This picture above shows the segregation in public places in South Africa during the apartheid.
In Afrikaans apartheid mean separateness. Apartheid is basically a policy or system that separates people based on their race. In South Africa this was happening from 1948 all the way to 1994. The black people of this area were being treated like second class citizens and the white people, as the minority, were struggling to maintain power. This was until people like Nelson Mandela started to cause a revolution and started to be the first to protest this injustice. After all the efforts from the people in South Africa the apartheid was finally ended and every one was given the same rights to go where they want, live where they want, and have citizenship.
This picture shows Nelson Mandela after he conquered racism in South Africa and stopped the apartheid.
