International Reactions
The apartheid had a huge effect on a lot of countries around the world. Many people around the world knew about it happening, but it still took almost 20 years before serious actions were taken against South Africa. Britain was one of the major countries that tried to get involved in the apartheid along with the United Nations who tried to spread awareness by creating a committee to monitor the situation. Britain started sanctions and disinvestments against South Africa in a attempt to force them to abolish the racist acts. The sanctions and disinvestments from Britain included things like cutting off trade and taking investments out of South Africa. This hurt South Africa as a whole and damaged its economy. This, combined with other coutures doing the same thing, is what eventually caused the apartheid to be stopped.

The sanctions that were held against South Africa didn't only damage their economy but also effected the daily lives of the white rulers. A lot of countries wouldn't have anything to do with South Africa in things such as sports. The sport sanctions against South Africa stopped them from playing any other international team. These sport sanctions started to make normal white citizens notice what was happening.

In conclusion to all the international events that happened during the apartheid the other countries in the world did as much as they thought they could to try to help South Africa's situation using sanctions. However a lot of people don't think any country did enough and that if other countries did get involved more the apartheid could have been stopped almost before it began.
